Cloisters, New College, Oxford, England

July 2017: Day 1, Oxford Workshop:  After lunch of our first day, we headed away from the Radcliffe Camera towards New College.  The day was hot, and so the key to afternoon drawing was to find space in the shade where 15 could sit, and spend time en plein air- sketching and painting outdoors and learning new skills.

New College is one of the oldest Colleges of the Oxford Colleges, dating to 1379, when William of Wykeham purchased land in Oxford and applied to King Richard II for a charter to allow the foundation of a college.  The New College Cloister is the backdrop in the movie,  Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire.
