Ottawa, Canada

February 2016: The weather has finally warmed up.  We still have about five feet of snow banked on our front lawn, but the days are getting longer, and today the sun was shining.

A few weeks ago I was in the neighbourhood known as  Ottawa East.  This neighbourhood was originally the suburban community of Archville, incorporated as the village of Ottawa East in 1888.  In 1907 it was amalgamated with the growing community of Ottawa.

The streets are picturesque, with the homes demonstrating the history of the neighbourhood.  Similar to other neighbourhoods of Ottawa, infill is on the rise.  The redevelopment of extensive land areas once owned by the Les Soeurs du Sacré Coeur de Jésus, and the Oblates is underway along Main Street.
