August 2016–Ybbs, Austria– As we headed up the Danube, from Vidin Bulgaria to Passau, Germany our days were filled with stops and visits on land. Although our trip was late summer we enjoyed warm weather and no rain. As the days went by we developed a routine. When back on our river boat, in late afternoon, we discovered a sitting area on the bow of the boat, protected from the wind and actually the best spot to survey the sites and sounds of the Danube River. One late afternoon, we passed the town of Ybbs, Austria. The river view of the town was picturesque, coloured buildings side by side, with the church steeple dominating the skyline.
