May 2016: The ferry crossing from Horseshoe Bay, northwest of the City of Vancouver passes to Nanimo, Vancouver Island through part of the scenic Howe Sound and across the Strait of Georgia.
This spring morning, the hour and a half ferry ride was spectacular. I chose to sit on the top deck, looking back towards Bowen Bay. With the sun shining, the backdrop of the snow topped mountains and the foreground of islands one can understand why this region is judged as having some of the most spectacular scenery in Canada.
The view is the results of glaciers, earthquakes, and volcanoes from a past geological era.
