The Royal Mile, Edinburgh

November 2015: Jim and I traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland to attend Jonathan’s graduation from Edinburgh University.  Arriving a day early we ventured out to the Royal Mile.  The sky was blue and the sun was shining-apparently a rare Scottish fall day.  The view of the historic Edinburgh castle dominated the skyline from its position on the Castle Rock.  The view to the east of the castle and the esplanade -the massive stone walls, slate roofs, wood windows, exterior plumbing and end walls interested me.  The windows were of particular interest.  A friend had rescued a window for me from a building in Ottawa, dating from the 1850’s of which I am in the process of re-purposing the frame.  As I looked towards the window of the “Royal Mile Cafe” I was wondering if the windows dated to a similar time.10-Royal Mile
